Okay, so this might be another one of those "blonde" things, but did you know that there is a difference between nail polish and nail lacquer?? I am the type of person, who despite my best efforts, CANNOT wear sandals with out first painting my nails. No polish, no sandals. Thats my motto. I have an issue with feet as a whole anyway. I think feet are gross and I really don't like to look at them. The thing I think I hate more than feet are unpolished toenails (I think I just threw up a little just thinking about it). I don't care if other people paint their nails or not. This is a totally personal preference.
I have been on the prowl, searching stores as I come across them, for the perfect hot pink nail polish. I want it. Bad. Whenever I get a pedicure (which isn't really all that often-sad, I know) I always pick the hot pink. You would think that you could find that color anywhere, but no. It has to be like a nail salon only thing...either that or all the hot pink polish know that I am coming for them and they run and hide. Either way, I can't find what I am looking for. Until Sunday. Oh yes. I was shopping with my girlfriend at Old Navy and were rushing (that's another story). When we slowed down in the check out line (really, when you are shopping this is the ONLY time you slow down) and there it was. In a plastic container with all of its hot pinkness glory. Its like the heavens opened up and the angels were singing...Natalie, this is it! I think I squealed and probably did a little jump (I can't help it or hide it when I get excited). I bought it.
(not the color I got. I bought Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro-Posh Pink...just couldn't find a pic of it)
After I got home I wasted zero time putting it on my horribly unpolished nails. It went on weird. I could tell it was going to take several coats and a clear coat just to make it passable. I wasn't sure what the problem was.You would think, me, a person who constantly is painting their nails would know that there is a difference in polishes! Nope, my mother-in-law
(here on out referred to as Mom S) came in and I was showing her my find and explaining that it wasn't going on like my other polishes. She said that it smelled a lot stronger than normal too. Mom S asked to see the bottle and said that it was nail polish. In my head I was thinking "well, duh. Thats what you want when you want pretty nails", but what I said was "yep." She said that what I needed was nail lacquer. I looked at her like she grew a third eye.
Apparently, all my "polish" has been lacquer. How did I make it 28 years without knowing that "polish" was a generalized term, but not actually what I use?! So weird! She also mentioned that the polish I just put on would stain my nails if I left it on for too long. Eww! Thank goodness for my personal shopping and all things fashionable expert! :)
So, today while on my lunch break, I ran down to Walmart. I was determined to find my perfect pink. Not exactly sure why I thought I could find it now when I haven't been able to find it for the past several years. Well, I didn't find it. I did find a bright and pretty pink. It will do. :) I will continue the search. One day I will find my perfect hot pink. :) Until then...
