I DID IT!!

I'm in the pink and Jackie is in the green and purple

me and Jackie doing our compass skill

just me

me and the hubs...I think he is telling me encouraging things. :) He was very supportive this weekend! :)

Well, this little scaredy-fish did it! I am officially a certified scuba diver! I almost gave up! I did NOT want to get back into the water on Sunday for our last two dives! The water was like 4 degrees colder than it was on Saturday. 4 degrees doesn't sound like much of a difference, but we could definitely feel it.
So, dives 3 and 4 had no instances of me jumping on the backs of my instructors, no eel sightings (for my outing at least :D ). I did all of my skills well. I had a little trouble with the weight belt (taking off and putting on while in the water and not being able to touch). Those suckers are heavy! I had a mask problem during one of the skills, but I stayed calm and got it taken care of. I did see jellyfish (apparently that is what I my instructor was trying to keep me from seeing during dive #2). I am a good jellyfish spotter! haha! Also, there was a seal in the water during our last dive. Apparently the seal swam in between me and Jackie! How cool is that?! I am glad I didn't know about it at the time, but its really neat to know now. I saw a picture that a friend took underwater of the seal (looks like a shadow) and it was RIGHT behind us for a little bit! Crazy! I like seals, but they would scare me if we were in the water at the same time and I saw it! lol
Overall, the experience was good. I tried to face some fears. I am certified scuba diver, who would probably be perfectly content never diving again...but that isn't happening. We have a dive planned for next month already (in a place with rocks and not so much sea life!). I'll keep trying it and hope its an acquired taste. I am glad that I didn't give up (and that Jackie kept talking me back into the water...such a good friend). I would have been mad at myself for getting so close only to give up. So, thats the end of my diving experiences until next month! :) Thanks for listening to my ranting, raving, crazy talking, and reminiscing of my diving weekend. :) Your encouragement really meant a lot! :)

oh, and diving makes you very sore...just fyi. :)

YAY! Congrats! Sounds like you had a good dive, and I can't wait to hear about your next one.

I DID see an eel when scuba diving in Hawaii. I got a little too close (not knowing what it was) and my instructor was trying to do all of the "signs" to tell me in the water to STOP moving closer. haha. OH, and I was stung by a jelly fish on the same trip to Hawaii! It was just a small one, but STILL. The pain was out of this world. (not to scare you or anything)

Seriously though, what an accomplishment!!! You will never regret taking risks.

yeouch!! We saw "ghost" jelly fish. They are cute because they are so small and they don't sting. I did see some bigger ones, but was able to steer clear of those. lol! I think its funny that you kept going closer! Your instructor was probably freaking out! haha!! :) I am NOT a risk taker. People keep saying I am brave...I just think I am stupid for doing it! ;) We are planning on doing a dive next month if I can get the time off. It should be less interesting because there won't be much in the water where we will be...thankfully! :) I will let you know if it happens and how it went! :)

that is incredible. i would be a little freaked with a seal that close to me, even though they are adorable!
