I am late getting out my Valentine's day post, but better late than
never, right?
never, right?
My wonderful hubby worked a closing shift, so he drove up and met me for lunch. We had pretty much decided that this year we would just do something really small for Valentine's day (we are going to be moving up to Salem in about two months), but he still bought me beautiful pink roses!! They are sitting on my desk at work. I love them!!
On my way home I called my Mom (I rotate so neither of them {Mom and Dad} feel left out), but ended up with her voicemail. I was getting ready to call her house line when my sister called me back. She was calling to let me know that my Dad had taken my Mom to urgent care. I, being the entirely calm person that I am (did you catch the dripping sarcasm?) immediately called my Dad. I spoke with my Dad a bunch of times that night getting updates-they were waiting for the doctor, they got sent from urgent care to the ER, they were running blood tests and EKGs, and then they admitted her into the hospital.
My Mom had been sick earlier in the month, but it turned out that this time she had pneumonia in her left lung and fluid around her heart. This was causing her heart rate to go up pretty high. They ended up doing surgery on her yesterday to drain all the fluid. She has at tube in her chest, which is causing her pain, but she is doing good.
Talk about having a crummy Valentine's day. My poor parents! The worst part was that I couldn't do anything since I live a state away. I wasn't sure what was going on and kept my phone close at hand waiting for my Dad to call me with an update.
On top of that, my poor hubby is at work and I am sending him text messages as I get info and he is worried about me and how I am handling everything. When he came home that night he brought me truffles (my favorite) and two pairs of tights I have been eying (I think you know me well enough to know that this was perfect for me)! I thought it was a sweet gift. I love tights. I love my hubby even more.
My mom was taken out of the ICU and put into a regular room (hooray!) yesterday. We are hoping she will be able to go home in the next couple of days.
So, that was my Valentine's day and the days following. My Daddy is a trouper and is taking care of everything for my Mom and my Mom is working on getting better. :) Once she is out of the hospital my world can stop rocking.
***Update***
I just heard from my Dad and they took the chest tube out this morning! :)
